Phase 5 was a month and a half affair at the Silk Road Lounge. The gig showed some promise, but it also had some funky backroom stuff going on, so it played itself out fairly quick. But in the meantime, I went through a huge phase of bringing in as many different players, in as many different combinations as I could. It was fun. It was hectic. It was seldom lucrative, but the music had a truly fresh quality, each and every night. I played every week, sometimes more than once per week, giving me a chance to further work on the proportions and the sizzle. Plus, I’ve got a much longer list of musicians who are ready to go and are now familiar with the concept
